HYUNDAI MNSOFT and Netradyne form Partnership to Develop HD Mapping Platform

HYUNDAI MNSOFT plans to leverage Netradyne’s “dynamic crowd-sourced deep vision technologies” to create maps that will be used in next generation vehicles.

HYUNDAI MNSOFT, a subsidiary of the Hyundai Motor Group, recently formed a partnership with Netradyne, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology company focused on driver and fleet safety, to develop high definition maps for autonomous vehicles.
Through the partnership, HYUNDAI MNSOFT plans to leverage Netradyne’s “dynamic crowd-sourced deep vision technologies” to create maps that will be used in next generation vehicles, according to a news release.
For about a year, Netradyne, along with other competitors, has been involved in a proof of concept (POC) trial with HYUNDAI MNSOFT, using its Driveri camera to map parts of the United States. Driveri is a vision-based driver recognition safety program that captures the driving experience to deliver safety managers a complete view of the driver’s day. It also includes advanced HD Map data capabilities.
“With Driveri, real-time, edge computing provides immediate updates,” said David Julian, CTO of Netradyne. “Driveri mapping leverages a simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) approach to crowd-source updates for dynamic events such as accidents, or road construction, in addition to static elements such as lane markings, signs, signals and more.”
The company’s AI research and development and product teams will work closely to develop HD maps that are expected to improve safety in next-generation vehicles.
“The announcement made between HYANDAI MNSOFT and Netradyne speaks to the need for advanced AI and AV companies to work together to support advancing driver and fleet safety, location and tracking data and bring intelligent data to those adopting autonomous vehicle technology,” said industry analyst, Stephanie Atkinson, CEO of CompassIntel.com and Chair of IoT6 Exchange Summit, according to the release.
