SiLC Technologies, known for integrated single-chip FMCW LiDAR solutions, has launched the Eyeonic Vision System Mini. The Eyeonic Mini supports sub-millimeter resolution in a substantially reduced size, targeting machine vision applications that demand precise short-range vision detection.
SiLC Technologies introduced the Eyeonic™ Vision System Mini (Eyeonic Mini), integrating a full multi-channel FMCW LiDAR on a single silicon photonics chip and an integrated FMCW LiDAR System-on-Chip (SoC), aiming to set a new standard in precision LiDAR technology.
The Eyeonic Mini utilizes the iND83301 (“Surya”) digital LiDAR processor SoC, developed by indie Semiconductor, enabling enhanced precision while reducing size compared to previous models. Building upon the success of SiLC’s first commercial FMCW LiDAR system, the Eyeonic Vision System, this new iteration incorporates an integrated silicon photonics chip tailored for machine vision applications.
At the core of the system lies SiLC’s Eyeonic Vision Chip, combining crucial photonics functions into a coherent vision sensor. This compact solution meets performance demands while ensuring affordability and low-power consumption. The system’s accuracy stems from a 4-channel FMCW LiDAR chip, supported by indie’s innovative Surya SoC, providing robots with sub-millimeter depth precision from distances exceeding 10 meters.
This precision enhances capabilities in automation, particularly in warehouse logistics and AI machine vision applications. For instance, palletizing robots equipped with the Eyeonic Mini gain enhanced capabilities to view and interact with pallets, optimizing package placement and truck loading with efficiency and safety.
SiLC’s technology integration into Dexterity’s robot autonomy platform aims to elevate warehouse productivity and safety. Samir Menon, CEO of Dexterity, remarked, “We are excited to partner with SiLC to unlock LiDAR for the robotics and logistics markets. Their technology is a revolution in depth sensing and will enable easier and faster adoption of warehouse automation and robotic truck load and unload.”
Dr. Mehdi Asghari, CEO of SiLC Technologies, emphasized their platform’s versatility and scalability in addressing diverse applications. The company’s demonstration at CES showcases long-range vision capabilities exceeding two kilometers, emphasizing high precision at shorter distances with the Eyeonic Mini.
Chet Babla, SVP Strategic Marketing at indie Semiconductor, highlighted the partnership’s success, creating a solution that aims to target multiple markets, including industrial automation and automotive.
SiLC’s FMCW LiDAR platform aims to redefine imaging solutions for AI-based automation, factory robots, autonomous vehicles, and security applications, offering robust vision capabilities in complex and unpredictable environments.
